Rarest item as a *drop*? Easy. Iron Ingot. Supposedly, only Mallyx can drop one, and how often do you suppose he does?

Proof or that didnt happen, i have ONE iron ingot in my storage, ive no idea how it got there and i havent bought any armour requiring iron and ive cleared out mat storage plently of time since the last time i killed mallyx. Only next reasonable idea would be it was dropped for me. Or aliens (Just a note, i dont salvage anything other than insignias, runes and mods)

I would have to say the rarest drop I ever seen at the time was an old req10 6-26 Tyrian sickle that was blue with a 12^50 mod on it. I remember selling that to get my monk's and ranger's first FoW armors back in late 05.

now a days, rare things are being overfarmed, so its not too rare to see a totally uniqure rare drop anymore.

since starting the day the game came out (3 years), i have had 3 black dye drops, 0 sup abs and 0 sup vigor drops.

(and only 1 major vigor)

i agree with the crystalline drops from creatures. however ive never seen one that wasnt white and so far from max it wasnt a joke. im pretty sure they usually salvage about 8 dust too.

I don't know what in the world would be the most rare drop ever....but I personally have seen an ecto drop in FoW and a Q7 max white Magmas shield drop in NM

And I've always though those req.7 and/or nonmax Crystallines came from those Dreadnought's Drift strongboxes...
A crystalline dropping from a mob - that would be more rare than getting a gold max tyrian/canthan req8 (or req7 if before NF) focus with 2 specific perfect mods from different professions, for example 20%HSR Blood Magic + 20%HCT Healing Prayers.

2 alliance guys farming uw one guy 0 ectos, 1 guy double ecto drop same monster.

i got my purple crystalline sword from the chest that spawns behind the wailing lord. i have also seen one drop in chest that spawns by Rastigan. they don't drop from foes they r a quest reward drop.
just as gold crystalline's r a reward for winning in hoh.

There were the old chests and stashes before keys. I thought those could drop anything too.

the 4 riverside chests for example, got ecto and shard from those, also those items that werent droppable, like Jade Gorget
